There was no such thing as taking a candid photo of Lily Pratt. Every time I pulled my camera up to take a shot, she looked directly at me. I am so glad I bumped into her. The flower ladies on Franklin Street have become a Chapel Hill tradition of iconic proportions. For two consecutive spring seasons, I have paced Franklin Street looking for them. And finally, yesterday, I just happened to stumble on to Lily Pratt, one of the “original flower ladies”.  The painting “Signs of Spring” is not likely to go up for sale. Not until I’m assured that I’ll have more time with this 82-year old flower lady.
