Painted the one above over the July 4 holiday. I don’t usually work this small. Like an artist friend in Raleigh said to me, “Nobody told me
plein air was suppose to be small!” This has to do with stopping the light which moves so rapidly. Larger pieces command so much area to cover with paint. So even though the sun wasn’t out that day, the sky and the light were very subtly changing. I’ll include below the two that I painted immediately following this one, from roughly the same location. They’d make a good threesome in the right spot.
